Spinoza’s Conatus Argument and Its Context

 

Abstract: In this paper I put forward an interpretation of Spinoza's conatus argument based on Franco Burgersdijk's discussion of contrary terms.

Hao Dong (BA & MA, Peking U) is currently a doctoral candidate in philosophy at Princeton University. He works in various areas in the history of philosophy, with a particular focus in early modern European philosophy.
