Clare Carlisle (KCL)

Spinoza’s Concept of Religion

Clare Carlisle is Professor of Philosophy at King’s College London. She is the author of six books, most recently On Habit (Routledge, 2014), Philosopher of the Heart: The Restless Life of Søren Kierkegaard (Allen Lane / Penguin / FSG, 2019), and Spinoza’s Religion: A New Reading of the Ethics (Princeton University Press, 2021). 

She will present from the latter, “a bold re-evaluation of Spinoza that reveals his powerful, inclusive vision of religion for the modern age.” Click here to learn more about the project.
